Halloween Day Meeting

Hello Book Club-ers!
Just reminding you all that our next meeting will be in the library on Monday, October 31st, Halloween day. Vernon Trollinger, the author of Haunted Iowa City will be there to sign books and , I hope, to read a section aloud to us from it.

"The Help" by Kathryn Stockett

Today, the City Reads Book Club discussed The Help by Kathryn Stockett. There was a lot of great conversation about this book's controversial topic. I really enjoyed this first meeting of the year. A lot of brilliant views and ideas were voiced (while I didn't have one) about this book. The best part of this meeting was that we were able to discuss a lot of the content in a short amount of time. The topics discussed ranged from  Minny's "Terrible Awful" thing to obscure beauty regimens used for the sake of looking good. Photos from this meeting should be up within the week!
The next book club book that we will read is called Haunted Iowa City, this was written by Vernon Trollinger, Justine's dad. More information about this future meeting should be added in short time!
