Some Books We Like!

Hello Book-Clubbers!
At our last meeting, we shared books that we enjoyed, here are a few of them:

Anna Viner shared When I was Joe by Keren David. She said:
This book is about a person named Ty who lives in London. He witnessed a murder so he is put into the witness protection program to protect him from the gang who murdered the person.

Aj DeSchamp shared Tithe by Holly Black. He describes it as:
A thrilling novel of a teen falling into the rabbit hole of an intensely new take on the mythical world.

Justine Trollinger enjoyed reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. She dubs it as:
Really an inspiring book, I've never read anything quite like it.

Margo Cox read The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho. The main argument, she explained, was:
The Devil and Miss Prym taking a look at a big question; is Humanity naturally good or evil? Incredibly well written.

Elizabeth read a very moving book, The Sacred Acre; The Ed Thomas Story by Mark Tabbs. Liz said:
The Sacred Acre is about the life & death of beloved Parkersburg head football coach, Ed Thomas.

Laura Hoff read The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. She detailed that:
The book is about a 19 year-old soon-to-be married merchant captain Edmond Dante who is framed for a crime he did not commit. He is held in a high security prison for 14 years.

Tess Wisdom read The Stand by Stephen King. Her plot summary is:
A government slip-up unleashes a deadly disease on the population, leaving a handful of survivors in the wreckage of North America. These survivors try to make sense of their lives before the disease and attempt to restart society from what remains of the world they knew.

Rebecca Barrett read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. She says:
<3 The Handmaid's Tale is a work of dystopic fiction about the ultra-religious right taking over the country. Women are either wives, handmaids or servants. The handmaids are sex slaves whose job is to bear healthy children. Which is difficult due to the nuclear fallout.

Well, this is just a sampling of the books talked about at our previous meeting!
Our next meeting will be on May 9th, at 3:30 @ the CHS library! The book we'll be discussing is Across the Universe. It is about a girl who is frozen with other humans traveling to a planet 'across the universe'. However, decades before arriving at the new planet, she is unfrozen...
